Year of the Hendrickson: American Trout Stream Insects by Louis Rhead

American Trout Stream Insects
by Louis Rhead

While Gordon was teaching Steenrod how to tie flies, there was another gentleman fishing the Catskills and imitating the natural flies coming off the water.  His name was Louis Rhead.  Rhead was quite the innovative tyer and really never got the recognition he deserved.  In his book, American Trout Stream Insects, published first in 1914 and then 1916 is a treasure to have.  You  will see more about Rhead this year.
